Africa and the surrounding Atlantic region are home to some of the most consequential weather systems on Earth. The West African Monsoon and the African Easterly Jet drive large-scale environmental conditions that generate tropical storms, flooding rains, and other high-impact weather events affecting millions of people across Africa, the Caribbean, and the United States. As the world warms, understanding how these systems will change is critical for protecting vulnerable communities and improving the tools that forecasters and policymakers rely on.
