Summary
Pengfei Huo of the University of Rochester is supported by an award from the Chemical Theory, Models, and Computational Methods program to explore how collective coupling between molecules and a quantized cavity radiation field influences photochemistry. Coupling molecules to an optical cavity generates new photon-matter hybrid states, known as polaritons, which feature delocalized excitations across molecules and cavity modes. These states have been shown to enable novel chemical reactivities and offer a promising strategy for controlling reactions by tuning fundamental photon properties. Suc
